Horror Squad pal John Gholson has an eye for collectibles. I'm not exactly sure how he is constantly coming across objects I would never know existed otherwise, nor am I sure I actually want to know. I think we're all better off assuming that the link to his latest find, a collectible Dagon figure, came to him in a fever dream and that he awoke in a cold sweat, scrawling the url onto a notepad before instantly forgetting he ever knew it.

Okay, so maybe he stumbled across the Lovecraft-inspired nightmare from SOTA Toys on Figures.com. But since that doesn't exactly fit the madness mold that makes Lovecraft so wonderful, let's pretend it was the fever dream. Anyways, the 12-inch statue will run you $225, which may seem steep to those outside the collecting world, but it's actually a fairly standard price point. I'm not sure if it qualifies as a trend (and if so, who started it), but I feel as though I've been seeing more and more fan made minimalist posters cropping up online. Recently, Ibraheem Youssef's Quentin Tarantino tribute posters made their way around the webs and into my heart for their stylish and succinct summation of Tarantino's filmography (my favorite is the Kill Bill Volume 1 tribute). But just when I thought fan made posters couldn't get any better, along comes Flickr user Bee Combs with his set of Stephen King minimalist movie posters.

His Flickr page says he's planning on making prints of these available in the future, causing me to desperately hope such a promise doesn't end up being a tease. I would gladly own the entire set, but if I had to pick favorites... I'm going with Pet Sematary and It, the latter of which has a subtle brilliance to it that makes me want to stand up and give it the '80s movie slow clap.

I know you're already planning to watch My Bloody Valentine 3D this weekend with your favorite horror-loving guy or gal, but such indisputable romance does not preclude you from still having to scrounge up a Valentine's Day card. So if you're currently in the lurch for a paper display of affection, might I suggest printing out one of Garrison Dean's Valentine's Day Disaster Cards from io9?

I'm thinking the Hills Have Eyes card is a guaranteed way to win the night, but the heart-loving zombie variant is a close second place (in a race that only included two cards, but hey).

It's hard to believe that 30 years have gone by since the grisly events at Camp Crystal Lake made slasher film history in a franchise that has become synonymous with a mute, lumbering, hockey-masked hulk who really sounds like a guy I used to date. The good folks at Creepy Tees decided to celebrate the past "30 years of fear" by designing this lovely Friday the 13th t-shirt. In anticipation of the February 12th release date, Facebook is bringing fans of the iconic character The Wolfman: Legend of the Full Moon, an all new in-browser game that pits man against beast in an epic showdown. From the press release:

The release of the game ties in with the brand spankin' new Wolfman website, which features fascinating lessons in lycanthropy as well as a look at the legacy of Universal Pictures' classic monsters through rare clips, images and music.

The Wolfman is directed by Joe Johnston and stars Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving.

If there was ever a reason for a horror fan to seek induction into the cult of Apple and Steve Jobs, a Dawn of the Dead video game developed exclusively for the iPhone is a damned good one.

According to Know Your Mobile, developer Byte Mark (how appropriate), the game, which features a top-down approach not unlike the Jurassic Park game for the Super Nintendo (how's that for an obscure reference?) has recently been submitted to the Apple store. Other games similar in style to Dawn of the Dead include iDracula and Alive 4-Ever, two other popular iPhone shooter games.

One would expect such a game to be bloody, and judging by the screen shot, it doesn't look like the developers skimped on the red stuff. Sadly, its dark red hue belies the humor found in the bright red blood of the film, but alas, this is something iPhone owners and Dawn of the Dead fans will just have to live with.

Most of the zombie killin' seems to be focused on brute force and melee weapons, giving a more up-and-close and personal approach and I think one more suited to such a platform. Interestingly enough it was noted that the characters and game play are more closely related to the Zack Snyder adaptation than Romero's, but does anyone really care? Mall, weapons, zombies. That's all that's needed.

Shock reports via All About the Games that the game should be available for purchase on January 19th.

I was extremely jealous of all my Austinite colleagues last weekend when I saw the Tweets fly about the Monster Squad screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse. Stars Andrew Gower, Ryan Lambert and Jon Gries along with writer Shane Black and director Fred Dekker were all in attendance. To celebrate the occasion there was a limited edition poster previewed by artist Tyler Stout. I've been drooling over it since first sight.

You can purchase the poster on the Mondo Tees website and you better hurry because one of the editions is already sold out. Each poster is screen printed with bad ass metallic inks and hand numbered. This is a very limited edition of only 450. Stout's psychedelic-nouveau style immediately makes me recall another favorite poster of mine for the 1976 film Squirm. Dekker himself claimed that Stout's poster was the best poster ever created for his film about a club of kids who set out to save the world from a horde of classic movie monsters. The director celebrated a highly anticipated DVD and Blu-ray release of Night of the Creeps this past October. I've been fantasizing that Stout might work his genius for a Creeps poster. A nifty glow in the dark event poster was created by John Smith for the Alamo Ritz Creeps reunion last summer.

When you see the words Resident Evil and motorcycle in the same sentence, the first thing that comes to mind is the ludicrous sequence from Resident Evil: Extinction that finds Milla Jovovich riding a motorcycle along the vertical face of a sky scrapper. Don't worry, that's not the motorcycle I'm trying to convince you to buy. I'm talking about a chopper that Capcom had custom made by Savage Cycles.

The two-wheeled death machine was unveiled in its final state at this year's CES (that's Consumer Electronics Show for the non-nerds out there reading about motorcycles adapted from video games) and comes equipped with everything you need to cut a vehicular swath through zombie hordes:

- First aid spray
- Red and Green herbs (mix them for extra potency!)
- Grenades
- Machete
- Bow gun ammo storage
- Shotgun
- Grenade Launcher
- Trophy Skulls
- Style

Santa Claws didn't come for someone this year. The UK Border Agency seized a package containing a Freddy Krueger claw-like weapon at Coventry's international postal hub this morning. The claws look like a bad ass combination of brass knuckles and knife blades. In other news, movie geeks everywhere debate that the claws are more Wolverine than Freddy Krueger.

I think knives are nifty too but I'm not so sure about this. "Just gonna use these to slice someone to shreds. No big deal."

Although the border staff is used to discovering weapons, drugs (most recently a boat load of fake Viagra) and other restricted items on a regular basis, I'm sure these razor sharp claws won't be forgotten any time soon. The agency was created in 2008 and is responsible for the safety of UK borders and controlling migration.

I would have put this post under the 'Lunatic Made' category, but, oh, we didn't have one.

Brad Fuller wrote about the Nightmare on Elm Street reshoot on the Bloody-Disgusting Platinum Dunes blog the other day, but left fans in the dark about what exactly is being reshot. "I don't want to get specific about what we are shooting, but suffice to say we heard you. After you've seen the film we can discuss what was reshot," said Fuller. Reshoots aren't always a big deal, but overall I'm nervous about the hype on this remake. Fuller is in full defense mode, early reviews were menza mez and The Friday the 13th remake wasn't horrible, but I'm not a fan of the other stuff PD has been putting out.

So, for today I'm just going to forget all about this NOES news and remember the man behind it all--Freddy Krueger. Leave your remake worries and woes behind and let's all enjoy some songs about Fred. Stormtroopers of Death (S.O.D.) is a N.Y.C. based hardcore/thrash band who has enjoyed a career of questionable lyrics intended to piss people off. The song Freddy Krueger is from their Speak English or Die album, part of which was MTV's Headbanger's Ball theme for a while. Reuben is a UK, mustache happy alt rock group whose 2004 song Freddy Kreuger (intentional spelling) reached #53 on UK charts. I've also included a little ditty a fan boy wrote for his lady friend to scare her. Aw--love. Lyrics on YouTube if interested. Last but not least, I didn't forget about Dokken, the metal band who recorded a song for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, called (you guessed it!) Dream Warriors. Respect the hair.
