Mark Lilly works at the Department of Integration and is trying to help the good citizens of the Big Apple -- some of who also happen to be werewolves, vampires and demons. His zombie roommate (who he found on Craigslist) and his sexually aggressive demon boss (also his office fling) are just a few in the cast of quirky characters (human and non-human) that keep him quite busy. You can catch the trailer for the series after the jump. I'm glad that the show features other characters like conjoined robots and mermaids in addition to the standard horror fiends. Also, does anyone else love that '2 Legit' t-shirt?

I think the animation is alright (someone loves Charles Burns), but I'd love to see a live-action version of this story on the big screen. Mark's zombie roommate, Randall Skeffington (voiced by Kurt Metzger) is played as a lovable slob, but he's still the kind of guy I would play video games or watch movies with. When I think of roommates in films, I instantly think of someone highly annoying. Actors like Renee Zellweger (she would always be asking for advice), Hugh Grant (zzzz...), Alan Tudyk (I love Joss Whedon but I can't stand this guy), anyone from the cast of Friends and Franklin from TCM (die!) would make supremely irritating co-habitators. What about the role for best demonic boss/love interest? The brunettes have my votes: Monica Bellucci, Edwige Fenech, Salma Hayek and Julia Voth.

Whedonites have been having a rough time of it lately with the cancellation of Dollhouse and Cabin in the Woods delayed until 2011. However, the good word came yesterday from Dread Central that a series of motion-comic webisodes based off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight has been put into motion.

Buffy's TV reign sadly ended with Season Seven in 2003 but Dark Horse Comics has been continuing the Buffy canon since 2007 with Buffy Season Eight. The comic series follows the events of the TV show's final season and is produced by Joss who wrote the first story, The Long Way Home. Originally only supposed to contain 25 issues, Whedon announced in September that the series would continue into Season Nine. Georges Jeanty has been the lead penciller for Season Eight but other artists have contributed to the series, including Jo Chen who has turned out some stunning work.

Casting directors are currently looking for voice actors to play all the usual suspects as well as the characters Twilight (the Big Bad) and Lady Genevieve Savidge, a British socialite slayer with an evil plan. Not much is known about Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's pet horror project, The Cabin in the Woods, beyond a few snarky posters released at last summer's Comic-Con and a Feburary 5th, 2010 release date. Now, MGM is apparently so pleased with whatever the two are cooking up that they want to convert the already shot film to 3-D -- a process that has the release tentatively rescheduled for January 14th, 2011.

That's right, a full year's delay. Not the best of omens for any film. However, in the name of all that is silver lining, we turn to our trusted colleagues over at CHUD and Hitfix for their thoughts. Devin was impressed by the footage he saw in a recent visit to the editing bay, while Drew claims that the script had potential to break out in however many dimensions. Neither has seen the finished film, of course, and both admit as much, but whatever they've seen or read has given them cause to think this is a wise move on the studio's part.

January '11, though, is just the next wide-open window for the film to open. If the process is completed soon enough, and the 3-D screens are available, Cabin could feasibly open in time for Halloween '10. But for right now, it's sitting pretty on the weekend that did right by My Bloody Valentine 3-D earlier this year. Let's just hope that whatever's in there is worth the wait.
