It's hard to believe that 30 years have gone by since the grisly events at Camp Crystal Lake made slasher film history in a franchise that has become synonymous with a mute, lumbering, hockey-masked hulk who really sounds like a guy I used to date. The good folks at Creepy Tees decided to celebrate the past "30 years of fear" by designing this lovely Friday the 13th t-shirt. Since they think you're really swell, they even made it limited edition and threw in other goodies for good measure.

"This 30th Anniversary Edition is strictly limited to 500 pieces and contains the following: a 5-color commemorative t-shirt featuring the amazing artwork of Jeff Zornow, a poster of the artwork signed by the stars of Friday the 13th: Adrienne King, Ari Lehman and Ron Millkie and a raffle ticket for a piece of screen-used memorabilia from a Friday the 13th movie.

And if that wasn't enough, random packages will have vintage studio-issued ephemera included, some featuring the autographs of Kevin Bacon, Betsy Palmer, Robbi Morgan and Mark Nelson!

Tormented first caught my eye two months ago when Trailer Addict posted an excellent clip from the movie that had me covering an eye with one hand by the time it was done. Now that IFC's Festival Direct program is bringing the British slasher to the US of A, we've got a full length trailer for the film and a slick little plot description on the Independent Film Channel's website:

"A sexy, scary high school horror movie that smells like teen spirit...with a hint of rotting flesh! From classrooms and cafeterias, to school ties and pool parties, teenage traumas full of promise, pimples and panic get a terrifying makeover as the best days of your lives become your worst nightmare."

The trailer definitely does a good job of selling the 'rich high schoolers up to no good' angle, so if you need selling on the horror angle I've happily embedded the aforementioned clip below along with the trailer. If Tormented looks like a good time, and I think it does, you can catch the film on IFC's On-Demand platform starting October 21st.

I wouldn't blame you for rolling your eyes skyward at the mention of the phrase "MTV Slasher Movie," but since My Super Psycho Sweet 16 comes from Jake Gentry, I'm feeling just a little bit better about the project. Why? Because Jake is one of the three directors who delivered The Signal, plus I've had some serious horror geek discussions with this guy, and he's the real deal. Like, you could mention Blood Beach, Hell Night, and The Gate in the same sentence, and he'll raise you a Funhouse or something.

So hopefully my optimism is well-founded, and I suppose we'll able to find out on October 23, which is when My Super Pyscho Sweet 16 debuts on MTV. Me, I'll hold out for the DVD release, because commercial breaks make me cranky and irritable. According to the IMDb, MSPS16 focuses on a party held at a roller derby that once got closed down for ... basic '80s slasher flick reasons. Oh, and since I spent a full paragraph saying nice things about the director, I should be fair and also mention that the two guys who wrote Super Psycho? They also created that Paris Hilton BFF series. Yikes.

A devoted horror fan becomes obsessed with finding the finished print of legendary lost slasher film The Hills Run Red. After tracking down the director's daughter, he ropes her, his girlfriend and his friend into documenting his search for the missing film. Their pursuit of the ultimate video nasty and the truth behind it leads them into classic slasher territory: the deep, dark, woods where the infamous film was shot and the deranged killer Babyface stalked his prey for the cameras.

The Hills Run Red, written by John Dombrow and David J. Schow, directed by Dave Park, promised to be a smart, cliché-busting modernisation of the slasher film. However, it doesn't reach the calibre of John Carpenter's episode of "Masters of Horror" Cigarette Burns which has a similar premise, nor does it deconstruct the slasher genre as cleverly as Scream or Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.
